Second centre for illegal migrants founded in the island of Samos

A second centre for illegal migrants was created in Samos with the potential to host 285 persons. The centre contains adequately equipped clinic and health resort, restaurant, playground, basketball court, laundry and storage space. It was financed by the Minister of the Interior by 2.6 millon euros and it is staffed by 9 employees of different specialities, while the police disposes its staff for the security of the centre.

The head of the Greek office of Amnesty international, G. Tsarmpopoulos, declared that this is an important positive step, given the previous conditions in Samos on this matter.
