Two High Court judges criticised the absence of a clear law on family reunification in Ireland at a conference by the Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI) stating that "consequent judcial reviews" were very time consuming "wasting State resources". The ICI's CEO Denise Charlton further argued that the absence of clear guidelines left applicants "unaware of the criteria on which their claims would be judged, which led to more appeals upon rejection which was very costly to all parties."
