Ministry of the Interior launched ‘Strategy on Integration’

On 1 July, 2008 the Austrian Ministry of the Interior presented a new ‘Strategy on Integration’. The paper contains several declarations of intent, e.g. concerning the promotion of special housing projects countering the creation of ghettos. With regard to the areas of police and justice, the strategy foresees to increasingly recruit personnel with migrational background. Moreover, it is planned to gain more immigrants for jobs in nursing and health care professions. Another focus is set on language improvements for immigrants.
