Between September 26th and 28th, 2008 about 90 Islamic graves were defiled at a graveyard in the city of Traun in Upper Austria. Gravestones and wooden panels were pulled out of their anchorage and sprayed with black paint, partly showing Jewish symbols like e.g. the Star of David. The Islamic religious community in Linz (the capital of Upper Austria) assumes that the perpetrators belong to the right-wing extremist scene, trying to disguise the offence.
