Bulgarian skinhead gets five years of inprisonment for beating a Nigerian football player
The Bulgarian Supreme Court of Cassation sentenced a young skinhead to five years of imprisonment for severely beating the 20-year-old Nigerian footballer Muayua Kolauole on the grounds of racial intolerance.
The football player was attacked on January 20, 2007 by Alexander Ginchev (20 years old) and a group of skinheads. After the incident Ginchev was charged with attempted murder in a particularly cruel way. The prepetrator was sentenced at 5 years of imprisonment for racist assault at the first instance. In April, 2009 the appellate court confirmed the conviction. This is the first sentence in Bulgaria for a racially-motivated violence.
