A Nigerian man was shot dead by a policeman at the National Stadium in Warsaw. The incident occurred during a routine control of peddlers, during which a seller from Africa was detained. Maxwell I attempted to intervene on behalf of the detained individual. During an exchange of opinions, one of the police officers drew his gun and fatally shot Maxwell I. Riots between the merchants and the police ensued, and over 20 people were detained. Part of the public accused the police of incompetence at best and racism at worst. Statements were made that the police officer would have never shot a white individual and that after the riot, police detained people at the stadium guided solely by racial profiling
