Racist incidents during Speedway League

On 6 July 2008, during the competition of the First Speedway League in Grudziądz, a dark-skinned competitor of the Rybnicki Sport Club, a Swedish of the Brazilian origin, fell victim of the aggression of a group of fans of Speedway Racing Association in Grudziądz who were watching the tournament. They hurled abuse at him and booed him and threw various objects at him. Whenever he appeared on the track fans were making special hooting sounds which were to imitate the sounds produced by monkeys. After the match a group of dozen or so men rushed in pursuit of the sportsman. The man hid from the attackers in his car which was later kicked by the violent spectators.
In connection with that incident disciplinary proceedings was carried out against Speedway Racing Association in Grudziądz for violation of the Speedway Rules and finally the fines in the amount of PLN 3,000 for the presence of unauthorised persons in the machine park and in the amount of PLN 2,000 for throwing dangerous objects by the fans on the track were imposed.
