3 migrants beaten to death during two clashes in Volos and Thessaloniki
A 36-year-old Albanian immigrant was beaten to death in city of Volos (central Greece) during a clash between groups of Greeks and Albanians on 22.07.2007. Three persons are charged and detained for homicide.
Two months later in Thessaloniki, 13 immigrants are indicted to trial for the assassination of 2 young immigrants (an Albanian and a Georgian) after the inter-ethnic clash between two groups of Albanians and ex-USSR immigrants in a Thessaloniki railway station square last May. The clash was triggered by a verbal insult, to be generalized with the participation of 30 young people passing by in the neighborhood of Xirokrini-Thessaloniki.
