On the 7th of October, the media gave a wide coverage to an online open letter of Mário Machado, leader of the Portuguese hammerskins. In this document Mário Machado claims that he is facing the largest political persecution of the last 30 years, stating also that the Public Prosecutor Cândida Vilar is acting against him out of revenge and noting that no one should forget her name. Media cover states that some extreme-right groups showed on their websites their knowledge of some details of the Public Persecutor’s life, like holidays’ schedules and destinations. Since then, Cândida Vilar has been accompanied and protected against this threat by two police officers. On August 2010 he was considered guilty and convicted to eight months in prison for those threats.
