Extreme-right party's anti-immigration poster
The extreme-right party, Partido Nacional Renovador [National Renewal Party] (PNR) placed an outdoor on one of the most frequented squares of Lisbon, in September of 2008, with the message “Immigration? We say no!”. In the poster, a white sheep, representing the PNR is seen kicking out of Portugal several black sheep, the latter inscribed with the words “criminality”, “unemployment”, “low salaries”, “multiculturalism”, open borders” and “welfare dependence”. This fact prompted the High Commission for Equality and Intercultural Dialogue to issue a press release on the situation and is referred in Amnesty International's Annual Report, as well as the ensuing controversy.
