A recruit of Turkish origin consulted the military psychologist because of sleep disorders. The psychologist didn’t believe his account and began to ask about his religious practices. The psychologist suggested that instead of going the mosque, he should become a volunteer in the army. The recruit rejected this. Thereafter the psychologist insulted him and threw him out of the office.

This was observed by the superior, a trainee and another recruit sitting in the waiting room, the recruit was also of Turkish origin. The superior threatened the other recruit to keep his mouth shut. The case was taken to court in November 2011. The psychologist was sentenced a 2,400 € fine and to a probation sentence of four months. The superior was fined 1,200 €. Both were released from the army.
