On July 25th, 2007 the Minister of the Interior presented the annual Report on the Protection of the Constitution. The chapter on right-wing extremism reveals that more right-wing extremist and xenophobic offences were committed in 2006 than in 2005. More precisely, an increase of 14.8 per cent of recorded incidents with extreme right-wing, xenophobic or anti-Semitic motivation can be observed compared to the previous year (2005: 209, 2006: 240). The number of xenophobic motivated incidents even doubled (2005: 13, 2006: 28). As stated in the report, a further increase of “racist and xenophobic right-wing extremism” especially among juveniles is to be expected in the future. An arson attack on a kebap stand in September 2006 is highlighted as the most serious incident in 2006. When searching the house of the male perpetrator Nazi propaganda material was found.
