Government criticised for increasing immigration registration fee
The Irish government has increased the registration fee for immigrants from non-EEA countries "without any warning or consultation" by 100% from €150 to €300; this applies to people who wish to remain in Ireland for more than three months. The Immigrant Council of Ireland is criticising this development calling the fee "unfair and unjust" predicting that "it will hit families hard". International students will also be affected.
