The perception of the Catalans on immigration
Survey conducted by the Catalan government on the basis of 1,600 face-to-face interviews with natives reveals that 49.3% of the interviewees thought that the number of immigrants currently living in Catalonia is excessive and 36.2% that it is high. 34% believe that immigration is negative, compared to 29.2% who think it is positive. Regarding the use of Islamic headscarves in schools and the construction of mosques, 43.4% of the interviewees would approve that a girl wearing an Islamic headscarf at school would be expelled and 57.4% of the interviewees would not like a mosque to be built in their neighbourhood.
