Qualitative Info

Police and gendarmerie officers are trained to be especially aware of consequences of discrimination. Particularly, officials of the HALDE train the National Police and Gendarmerie officers. The HALDE and the General Direction of the National Police drafted and adopted the good practices and guidelines on the basis of multiannual partnership contracts between these two public bodies.

NGOs have similar training programmes addressed notably to police officers. Among other contents the following can be mentioned: information about the law and case law about discriminations; sessions on sociology of discriminations (official statistics, sociological surveys, testimonies, labour union documents); history of racist, xenophobic and homophobic ideologies; analysis of discriminatory practices with the following tools: films, documentaries, advertisement spots, NGOs materials, theatre and forums; incorporation of intercultural practices, workshops with discriminatory case studies and practical exercises.
