There is no valid information on the mortality rate of the population with a migration background available. Therefore only the mortality rate of the foreign population can be considered.
Between 2003 and 2007 there has been a steady decline of the standardized mortality rate (Europe-standard) for foreign men and in total also a decline for foreign women, although in their case the decline was not a steady one. By contrast, in the same time period, the standardized mortality rate (Europe-standard) has increased for German men and slightly decreased for German women.
Another report regarding the mortality rates in Germany shows that the mortality rate among foreigners, which used to be lower than the mortality rate of the majority population, has increased. Foreigners who have resided in Germany for a long time show higher rates of mortality than recently immigrated foreigners [4].
