Qualitative Info |
It is widely considered by scholars and commentators, that the electoral rise of the extreme right in Greece is based on the widespread xenophobic speech and the acceptance or endorsement of its core anti-migrant and pro-discrimination rhetoric. Golden Dawn party’s representatives (leader, deputies and members) openly express hate speech against migrants and minorities. Representatives of Popular Orthodox Alert (LAOS), which participates in the coalition government in the period November 2011 -February 2012, have repeatedly expressed racist/xenophobic and antisemitic views. Although the two traditionally major parties (PASOK and Nea Dimokratia) had in the past and still host members with nationalist views, a certain attention is paid when it comes to these issues.
